i have a feeling that he is going to come hard next year and want to prove to everyone and to his self that he still got it . . . i think its a good singing and if he do retire next year then the C can be moved to either O'Rielly or Landdy.
my guess is Hejduk - 25G 32A 57P in 2012-2013 season!

He also gets a full offseason to prepare to be captain. The sudden change of it might have affected him. I swear not naming the captain until midway through the season was awful. |

This is a good start to the signing season. The who will be captain next season debate is over with, Duke is our leader for one more season and Im happy to see him back. He will redeem himself. Having our coaching staff and captain determined is a great thing moving forward into Free Agency, shows any new avalanche members who will be their leaders once they sign that dotted line. |

Dont get me wrong i love guy but if he couldent get it together during the 65 games after he was named captain , then chances are nothings going to change ... Hope im wrong though.. |

If a player gets something like that thrust on him midseason, it can be a shock and if they aren't performing, pressure increases and just spirals downward. An offseason to sit back, reassess and get ready will often do wonders for a player. It happens all the time in sports. |

I hope they will name a permant second assistant as well this season, give it to EJ, and when Hejduk retires, the role is ready for Landy after another season of leading this team by example. |

Solid signing for the Avs financially and with the output he'll bring to the table. $2 million for a fan favorite and a captain who will probably bring an output of around 40 points...... not too bad. It buys the Avs another year to seek a long-term leader and I'm hoping it will be Landeskog.
Speaking of Landeskog, anyone have any promo coupon codes for altitude authentics for a jersey I'd like to get of Landeskog? PM me or post them here. Thanks! |

Hey now, you're totally discounting games against Edmonton. |

The only problem I have with this..
I will be pissed if this precludes us from going after either Semin or Parise. If not great signing.. if so.. The last thing this team needs is a 1 year patch for one of our holes at wing.
I'll be curious to see if Jones gets a contract now. I could totally understand this if they know Jones wants to much.
For all the people saying that he couldn't contribute on the 3rd or 4th line, When he was put with McClemment & McLeod they actually formed an effective 4th line. |

I am surprised it happened, however I am always happy to see hejduk play. However he was pretty useless during the last half of the year, so lets hope he picks his play up.
On a side note, I am sure the avs will "go for" Parise and suter, but there aren't any signs that point to us realistically getting them.
I think semin is a possibility but I am personally hoping for Carle and/or Prust |

What happened to Duchene? last year at this time he seemed to be a shoe-in for the next captain, now his name isn't even being mentioned. I love the kid, hope he can turn it around and take the C when Hejduk retires |

He does not have the maturity level when compared to guys like Landeskog, O'Reilly & EJ
Everyone thinks he can bounce back but he has a lot of growing to do not only in maturing but with his game as well. Right now I think if you asked most people which center should we trade (If that happened) it would be Duchene.
Stastny might be the easy choice but I think most people know we wouldn't get the return needed to justify it. Duchene is just not ready to be the No. 1 center yet either.
I am afraid that if we don't get him quality wingers he will end up berried behind Stasnty and O'Reilly because they're games are a lot more well rounded.

Who the hell is Prust? and adding Carle does not preclude us from getting one of Parise or Semin. |

I'm actually going to do a piece on a theory of what the Avs are doing with this offseason and what to expect July 1. It's an interesting one, I'll tell you that. You'll have to decide if it is far-fetched or not. |

Prust is an AMAZING player who is currently on the Rangers. Bottom 6 player who is one of the best leaders in the game and any team he goes to loves him.
Also how often does a team sign more than 2-3 players in one off season. Let alone the avs. I'd rather not turn out like the sabers |

I'll trust your judgement on that one, but it's hard to imagine us signing any bottom six guy considering our roster. |

Upgrading over McLeod, which Prust would be, I could see. |

Because we have so many players without a definite role and could fit on any number of lines, its hard to evaluate as a fan exactly what we need. However the avs still have holes throughout their entire roster. |
